Services

If you're a small business without a website, or with one that is under-performing... we need to have a talk.
I specialise in creating sites that help you do business, automate your tasks, and essentially make money - be it through traditional e-commerce, user registrations, or recovered man-hours.

A website is an ongoing project. The ability to update your site with current information is essential to stay ahead of your competitors, to stay fresh in search engines, and to encourage return visits to your website.

Too many businesses rely upon their web design agency to produce updates to their content, which not only proves costly, but often will mean content is not updated in a timely manner.

I specialise in developing bespoke web-based systems that allow clients and their employees to login and update website content. This can include a wide variety of information such as articles, images, products, invoices, reports etc.

The idea is to work closely with you to identify which areas of your website should be updated frequently, and to provide an easy to use system that will allow you to manage this content as often as you like.

These days, anyone in the business of selling goods or services, needs to have an e-commerce website. If you're not selling online, you're losing out on revenue.

With nearly a decade's experience in developing e-commerce websites, I've developed a bespoke and feature-rich e-commerce application that can be completely taylored to the individual needs of your business.

Obviously there are plenty of low-cost or even free pieces of software available that will allow you to sell online, however a fully bespoke system can grow alongside your business, adding new custom features as and when your business model requires them.

Many companies see their website as merely a brochure to show off their products and services. Websites are indeed ideal in this respect, but there is great potential to achieve so much more with your online presence.

I am able to create bespoke web applications that can manage many aspects of your business for you, including customer account management, task management and tracking, accounting and reporting, stock control, subscriptions, appointments, customer liaison, and all manner of other things.

Over the years, I've found that this is especially useful for small businesses, as the ability to automate some of the more laborious tasks of invoicing and job tracking can save a huge amount of time over previous processes.

Many of my clients come to me with their systems on word documents and excel spreadsheets. If this sounds like you, the potential for time-saving with a bespoke system is immense.

I've been developing websites for over a decade. In that time I've seen many new techniques for search engine optimisation and manipulation. I've seen the rise of Google and the demise of black-hat search engine optimisation techniques. I've seen SEO companies fall and large companies black-listed, and during this time I've been involved in very successful SEO projects.

All my sites are developed with search engine optimisation in mind. The dynamic nature of database driven websites allows for the easy creation of many pages of content, and I am able to make these pages very search engine friendly, without having to resort to underhanded techniques that are likely to get sites removed from listings.

I don't offer any guarantees of search engine success (Be very wary of any company that does!), but I can assure you that a site developed by Simian Enterprises will be well indexed and well received by the top search engines.

As a consciences web developer, I aim to create clean, accessible code using currently accepted best practices. Unfortunately no-one can seem to agree on what those best practices might be, and in any case they keep changing, so it's difficult to keep up.

Where do they find the time?!

The web industry is so fast moving that it's all most of us can do to keep up to date with the latest ideas and techniques, whilst hitting our deadlines for paid projects... So when do people find the time to innovate?
